Ambre, 20 years old, is studying law, encouraged by her modest parents who dream of her becoming a lawyer. When an unexpected baby arrives, everything falls apart. Three years later, with two years of university on her CV, Ambre slams the door on her overly smothering parents, to prove to them that she can manage without them. Finding a job, finding an apartment, that shouldn't be so hard, should it? But very quickly, Ambre has to resign herself to accepting the only viable job that will enable her to provide a roof over her son's head: as a trimmer. And what's more, in the toughest section of the company, both morally and physically: the "Fonctionnelle", a sort of cleaning SWAT, intervening day and night to clean up the city after accidents, demonstrations, attacks... Alone among an army of tough guys, how far will she be prepared to get her hands dirty to regain her dignity and her child, whose custody her parents are trying to take away from her? And what if, in the end, it was here, in the "Fonc' ", with a front-row seat to the harshness of the world, that Ambre managed to find a new family and reinvent herself?

Ambre, 20 ans, étudie le droit, encouragée par des parents modestes qui la rêvent avocate. Lorsqu’un bébé arrive, inattendu, tout s’effondre. Trois ans plus tard, deux années de fac validées sur son CV, Ambre claque la porte de ses parents trop étouffants, pour leur prouver qu’elle peut se débrouiller sans eux. Trouver un job, trouver un appartement, ça ne devrait pas être si difficile, non ? Mais très vite, Ambre doit se résigner à accepter le seul travail viable qui lui permettra d’offrir un toit à son fils : éboueure. Qui plus est, dans la section la plus dure moralement et physiquement : la Fonctionnelle, sorte de GIGN de la propreté intervenant jour et nuit pour nettoyer la ville après les accidents, les manifs, les attentats… Seule femme au milieu d’une armée de gros bras, jusqu’où sera-t-elle prête à se salir les mains pour reconquérir sa dignité et son enfant, dont ses parents tentent de lui confisquer la garde ? Et si finalement c’était là, au sein de la Fonc’, aux premières loges de la dureté du monde, qu’Ambre parvenait à trouver une nouvelle famille et à se réinventer ?
