A body is found in a boat adrift somewhere between Fort Boyard and Aix Island. Solène Brach from the mainland police is sent to investigate. She asks for assistance from Vincent, mayor of the island, but he is reluctant to be part of the investigation. The victim, José Chebec, a native of the island, had just got out of prison after 20 years, and was working as the guard of the fort. He’d been involved in a jewellery heist that had gone wrong, resulting in two deaths. José got 20 yearswhile his accomplice, Michel, was never found. Michel’s wife, Aline, raising their son Mathieu by herself, has never given up on her husband still being alive. Through the criminal investigation, the whole life of the island, with its silences, mysteries and family secrets, is turned upside-down.

Un corps est retrouvé dans un zodiac à  la dérive entre le Fort Boyard et l’Ile d’Aix. Solène Brach de la DPJ est dépêchée sur place. Elle demande à Vincent, maire de l’île, de l’assister mais ce dernier se montre peu enclin à participer à cette enquête. La victime, José Chebec, est un Aixois tout juste sorti de prison après 20 ans de réclusion, devenu gardien du fort. Lui et son complice, Michel, avaient effectué un casse de bijoux vingt ans auparavant, qui avait mal tourné : deux victimes au tapis, pour lesquelles José a été condamné tandis que Michel demeurait introuvable. Aline, la femme de Michel, ne s’est jamais résignée à le croire mort, élevant seule leur fils Mathieu. Au travers de l’enquête criminelle, toute la vie insulaire, où le mutisme croise les mystères et secrets de « famille », va se trouver bouleversée.
