A man in times of war

Roger Martin du Gard, winner of the Nobel Prize for literature in 1937, was mobilised in 1914. All through the conflict he took photos of his daily life at the front, while at the same time keeping a war diary.

A work of sensitive photography supported by a written testimony imbued with pacifism and humanism.



Roger Martin du Gard, Prix Nobel de littérature en 1937, est mobilisé en 1914. Tout au long du conflit, il photographie son quotidien à l’arrière du front. Parallèlement, il rédige son journal de guerre.

Ce travail photographique sensible et inédit porté par son témoignage écrit empreint de pacifisme et d’humanisme dessine le parcours d’un homme dans la guerre.
