Alexandra Ehle is a coroner at the Bordeaux forensic institute. The film tells the story of the race, a modern day odyssey that has no stopovers in ports or support for the skipper. As numerous difficulties occur the solo sailor must be the hero of his race and the giant hummingbird on his sail becomes his guide.

The Hummingbird Race is a metaphor for the obstacles we must overcome to realise our dreams. Frederique’s dream is to inspire each of us to help our community. Thomas’ dream is to complete the round the world race in the name of life’s anonymous heroes and to not disappoint the hundreds of people who support the Souffle du Nord and who are enthusiastically following the adventure.
